Your Society Needs You!
CALLING ALL ASU MEMBERS. YOUR SOCIETY NEEDS YOU !!
We’ll organize it and we’ll hang it but we need you to mind it!
How can you help?
Please volunteer a few hours of your time to supervise your ASU Annual Exhibition at The Belfast Indoor Bowls Club Shaw’s Bridge Belfast.
If YOU give a few hours than that spreads the load and makes everyone happy. Looking forward to seeing you at what will be a wonderful show.
Contact Liz Shanks asap so we can plan a rota. Thank you in anticipation.

‘You’ll be Bowled Over by The Open Exhibition 2013′
 Press Release.
The Arts Society of Ulster will hold its 16th Annual Exhibition in the Belfast Indoor Bowling Club from Friday 31st May until Saturday the 8th of June 2013.
The Society currently has 130 elected members leaving it one of the largest arts societies in the country. This is a unique opportunity for art lovers from all over Ireland to visit and view the work of so many highly skilled Ulster artists most of whom are working professionally and semi-professionally. This premier exhibition will showcase an extensive and exciting selection of traditional and contemporary styles of painting, sculpture and ceramics at its best.
It is a significant ‘must see’ event for anyone interested or involved in the visual arts. As a major cultural event in the arts calendar one can enjoy almost 300 high quality examples of superb artwork in a picturesque rural setting with excellent parking facilities.
The history of the ASU is illustrious having its origins in the Arts Society of Ulster Trust, formerly known as the Royal Ulster Academy Association, Since 1997 it has been holding annual exhibitions, lectures and courses in its own right throughout the province. The Society has worked tirelessly to support and promote the work of established and emerging artists many of whom have distinguished themselves internationally.
The Arts Society of Ulster continues to provide a much needed creative forum for artists and is a major promoter and contributor to the visual arts scene in Northern Ireland and beyond.
The highly respected and nationally acclaimed water colour artist Paul Holmes President of the ASU, in a recent interview said ‘I hope that the work of the Society will be acknowledged by a wider audience through the 16th ASU Annual Exhibition. We are pulling out all the stops here and I call on those who value the visual arts to show their support for this amazingly talented group of people.’
The International award winning wildlife artist Vic Bearcroft has endorsed the show by donated a limited edition print to be auctioned by the ASU.
